Aspire V5-591G-74PY

I've just aquired this laptop and installed Windows10 on it.

Everything looks good so far but the touchpad selection from the BIOS which is by default on "Adavanced".

Well, after startup working with the touchpad is a mess. It is working really bad. I've tryed all the combinations of the possible setings and the delay and lag and jumps of the cursor is like crazzy. The indicated driver:

is not making at all. I was trying also diferent versions of driver found on the other types or old ones without success.

I was almost determined to renounce to it and to get the money back and...

Finally changing the BIOS option to "Basic" and restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling the driver make it work just as expected. Why it should be like this ? Any idea for fix ? Did anyone had this kind of trouble also ? BIOS update is a guarante of good working ? This are the proposed updates:

First sorry for the late reply. I was not be able to work on this until now.

So, I was just reading the link from "Tinkerer" suggestion. Well, it looks like I did the same but using the driver for ELAN as you can see from the previous post with the snip. It is true that it looks just like "ELAN Input device" without any mention about the touchpad. But going further under "Mouse and touchpad" options from the device manager, and selecting the "Additional mouse options" here I have:

End from here on you can select the ELAN tab and Options button:

and now basically you have access to all the configurations for different combinations.

As I said (maybe I was not clear), it is working like this.

But since on the BIOS the default value is "Advance" for the touchpad and the drivere is available as is, why it is not working from the begining as default. Shouldn't it ?

I'm okay now since I see that I found kind of the "right" solution and I want to thank you for support.

Hi,

Could you please post the snip of your Device manager showing the expanded Human Interface Devices(if there is) and Mice and Other Pointing Devices.

Here it is:

However, please note that it is like now, when its "fixed" by "Basic" option... when having troubles with touchpad BIOS "Advance" option, it looks different. It makes reference to ELAN I2C Filter Caption ... (under "Mice and Other Pointing Devices") and something like Touchpad input device and I2C ... (under "Human Interface Devices"). Not sure about the correct replication of the names right now.

Yes, I agree with wtfs, this problem caused by the conflict of Precison Touch drivers and Elantech driver(in your case), it's a good idea to try the fix provided in the link, good luck.
