Windows Pro 8 from Vista (6920 Blu-ray. HDMI, Dolby Theatre spec laptop)

i'm not one to mess with the system if it is working fine however I have got a date and time changing virus whch Norton IS didn't prevent. As Windows Pro 8 is at a reasonable cost, £45 from Amazon, I am looking to use the upgrade version which upgrades XP, Vista or 7.

However how do I ensure all the dedicated functionality of Acer programmes are carried over as they do not appear to be available on the Acer site and there is no certainty Vista restore will work under 8 or that any of the software pre-loaded onto my 6920 Blu-ray Dolby theatre sound system is Windows 8 compatible?

Has anyone more pro-active than myself done this already and what was the outcome?

    UPDATE:

Date problem solved: I came across an item on ebay when getting a new screen for my 521 netbook. It was for a 6920 CMOS battery and mentioned the date reset issue and need to change battery every 3 years or so.

DATE NOW BEING MAINTAINED AND FULL VISTA FUNCIONALITY RESTORED, HURRAY!!

Have tried two repair shops and this message board for a solution, why on earth doesn't anyone know about it. Obviously really, now that the 6920 has been demoted to mainly entertainment use by the aquisition of the extrememly portable but still hi-def output 521

If you've created your recovery media, you should be able to reinstall some of the applications which came on the unit, however there are many specialized features on the 6920 which may not have drivers readily available in Windows 8.
