Hi, Everyone. I have an ACER Iconia Tab A510 and a smaller ACER Tablet - need help with SD card.

I need some advice on micro SD card utilization with the ACER Iconia TAB A510 -- Using ASTRO file manager, I am trying to put some photos onto my micro SD card so I can copy them to another place. There is no COPY choice only "MOVE" -- however, when I try to do this (Move), it will not move the file to the micro SD card.

Now, I took this same micro SD card out of the A510 and put it into my mini ACER tablet, and it worked fine to put files onto the same SD card in that tablet.

I took the micro SD card out of the mini tablet and put it back into the A510, and it is saying there are no files on the micro SD card.

I sure could use some help if someone else out there has had issues with the micro SD card in the ACER Iconia TAB A510.

EXCELLENT information you're asking for on the micro SD card.

It is a 32 GB, micro SD HCI.

It is formatted to the FAT 32, as I've read elsewhere is what is needed for format.

This same micro SD card works fine in my little ACER tablet; was able to utilize it for copying photos.

Your a510 supports 32GB SDHC, so can be a sort of compatibility.

Using Astro are you able to see internal storage and SD?
The only thing i can suggest is to try another 32GB SD.

IronFly, thank you. I will get the micro card you suggested and give it a shot.

ASTRO does show me the internal storage, and another storage, AND the external storage (which I think is the micro SD card).

I will report back after I get another micro SD card to try in the Acert A510.

I have owned this tablet for around three years now, and it has been really good -- even considering my husband dropped it a week after I bought it! He felt terrible about it, but it seemed to work just fine.

I don't want to have to email all the photos on this device to myself just to get them off of the device.

I also have the micro to USB dongle it came with, so if worse comes to worst, I can use that cable.

yes, you can transfer your data connecting to a PC and then to the microSD, not the quickest way but better than nothing.

i can suggest you to try with a SanDisk microSD, seems the most reliable (i'm not affiliated with any brand Smiley Happy )

Good morning, IronFly. I did as you suggested and purchased a ScanDisk Micro SDHC card, 32 GB.

I also bought a micro to USB cable, just in case I needed it. I do have the micro to USB dongle, but OfficeMax did not have the cable needed to complete the loop, and the young salesman suggested a micro cord for $5. I bought it and will test it out later, just to see if it works.

Update on what I have done. With the tablet off, I inserted the Micro card. Turned it on, and it found the card.

I snapped photos of what ASTRO showed: USB-storage, Primary, and External_sd. So I know it was seeing the micro card. *my photos were too large to be posted here, so I went without the visual aid.

Using ASTRO, I was unsuccessful transferring files. So I downloaded ES File Explorer to the tablet. At first I copied one photo to micro card successfully. Then I thought, "Well, this works great," and I did tag all of the photos to move and ASTRO ( all 300-some photos ) . . . did not like that at all.

I fiddled around some more trying this and that. Finally, the thought struck me that maybe I am working too fast for this computer. So, I took a breath and slowed down. Using the ES FILE EXPLORER, I selected "Search," then once that populated, I selected "Images," then I let that populate totally 100% all the photos -- THEN I selected ALL and then selected "copy", and sat back and watched it copy all my photos to the micro SD card. Went in to verify that all the photos copied to the micro card, and, viola`, there they all were sitting nicely on the micro SD card.

So, I think I was rushing the computer and not waiting for it to populate before I told it to start copying . . .

Now, I like the fact ther ES File Explorer gives me the COPY choice, rather than ASTRO's "move" choice.

Anyway, I wanted everyone to know -- it is not always the computer, sometimes it is the operator! LOL. Thank you for jumping in to help me out, IronFly -- really appreciate your time.

Yes, it is an old device -- when it was a week old my husband dropped it on a concrete street -- ouch -- no effect on it at all. It has been a great little tablet. It does what I need it to do, and no need for a "newer" one. Definitely live by the old adage, if it isn't broken, don't fix it -- if it isn't broken, don't buy a new one just because you "want" a newer model. I am sure the sellers of computers do not like that attitude at all. (grin)
