Acer Iconia B3-A20 10.1 Inch. Android 5.1

Can the built in mic be disabled? I have tried various Playstore Apps, with no success, also tried a dummy jackplug again no success.

My handicapped daughter uses this and we have had someone accessing the mic through the internet and then playing it back to us through the walls of my father in-laws house, when we visit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

which kind of jack plug you used?

you need one, like this (by the way you will disable the tablet speaker too):

    jackplug

if your jack plug was already this type...i think you have only 2 ways:

    1) put some cotton, wax or glue with a tape over the mic

    2) open the back of your tablet and disconnect the mic

Many thanks for your reply, I can confirm the plug you suggest matches the plug I tried. I'm reluctant to open the Tablet as it is still covered by warranty. As you suggest, I will try physically blocking the mic.

Perhaps I should be concentrating on trying to stop outside access through the Internet, the broadband supplier has already increased the Firewall their end to high, but the problem persists. I have also tried a software Firewall on the Tablet without success

i would suggest you to do a factory reset of your tablet, so you can be sure that no external application is installed.

    settings/backup & reset - factory data reset

backup all your personal data first
