Acer will not allow a scanner to scan

We have an Aspire 7739Z-4439 running windows 7

Have tried 2 brand new scanners - different makes - talked to customer service at Canon & after trying a lot of things he still could not get the scanner to work as it should. Did not contact Epson, which is the other scanner that would not function properly.

By properly - I mean you can not press the buttons on the front of the scanners & have it go from there. However you can go through "paint" or use a manual override to force either one to scan. So we know it is not the scanners at fault.

There is something buried within our Acers programming that will not allow a scanner to work.

If it's any help, we have installed at least 2 different printers & other hardware that have functioned fine, so it is specific to scanning.

can anyone help?

It sounds like you have an issue with these specific peripherals and their software, not with the Aspire 7739Z.

You are able to get a scanned image while using Paint, or using a "manual override".

Perhaps if you posted with some specific error messages or model numbers of the peripherals someone may be able to assist you.
