Can i Shrink D drive and put it in C?
Hi, I got my new Acer Predator 15 a few weeks back with 1TB of data that I was happy with.
But ive noticed recently(I am New to this stuff) that I have a C drive and a D Drive
Acer C: Data
So I didnt know what these were I put a little research in and got a little info but not what I wanted
Anyways I found out I had 1TB of data between the 2 of them which I thought it would be on the one...
But the C drive only has 100GB and the D drive has 900GB.
Some of you may be thinking thats fine but then I notice that everything is going in the C drive and not going in the D drive... So right now my C drive has 2GB of space left and my D drive is empty!
I dont honestly know what to do to fix this.
Ive went to disk management and seen a few different forums on how to do it but i feel i need it more in depth just to make sure im making the right move.
And my brother said I shouldnt mess with the stuff if i dont know what im doing so ive came here to ask the Officials or even some Nice people!
Hopefully you can help i really need it right now!
Thanks!

Once you set the default path to D, you can copy everything from C to D.I'm not an Acer employee.0

instead of shrinking, you can also completly delete partition
and then assign it to C: expanding the volume.
by the way, when installing programs you can always set
as installation path, you jsut need to check a custom installation.
this kind of storage split, is safer for your data, since you only need to refresh C: partition if windows encounter any issue.
we are talking about OS/software issues, an hardware issue on HDD...is another story and no partition can save you from it.

Yeah acer really assigned too little space for your C drive(at least 250gb is fine). If you have a copy of windows 7, 8 or 10 by reinstalling you can assign the whole D drive into C and so having only 1 1TB drive, or if you want to still have 2 drives then you can also assign more space to D drive from the C drive(example D is 500gb, C-500GB).

Will anything happen if I Put all my D drive into C drive?
And does it matter if they are on different discs ?0 -
1) nope
2) if they are on physical different HDD, you can't do it

Then he can install the windows on the D drive and leave the C drive as secondary.

hi,
of course if you do spanning or striping of the drive the hole speed will be only the speed of the slower disc. If one disc is failing the hole data is lost. The only good advice I would see here is to install directly on the bigger drive, why ever it should be useful (?) or buy a bigger drive and geplace it.
If you need more space to install games for e.g. just change the install path to D.
the bigger the C: drive, the bigger the fullbackup for e.g..
Good luck!

Is it simple to just re-direct and put my downloads into D drive?
And can I make it so say if i record something it saves to D drive instead of C?
Also how do i check if its different physical drives?

About physical drive:
Windows logo key + x
Click on disk management
Here you can check how many discs and partitons are on your system.
About installing programs on, every installer has this option, just need to choose custom install and switch C to D letter on installation path.
Or you can follow this tutorial:

I just checked Disk Management and C Drive is on Disk 0 and D Drive is on Disk 1.
And about relocating downloads can i do it with things already downloaded and just move them over C drive to D drive or should i delete them from C drive redownload them and then download straight on to D Drive?

I don't use OBS, so i'm doing a little guessing.
Probably OBS has some settings where you can set the path for recordings or it checks the windows default paths for user files.I'm not an Acer employee.0
