When I try to update Windows 10 version 1511 to version 1607 the Update Assistant says there is insufficinet memory, it needs 16GB. There is a there is a 32GB micro sd card plugged in that has about 29GB free.

There is no option to use that drive.

Download the update file to the thumb drive, then start the install from there. It should then use that drive for required space.

Copying the Windows10UpgradeAssistant to a USB drive (after scrounging up an adapter) was unsuccessful. I then tried copying it to a 32GB Flash card. Also no luck - in both cases it stoped with an insufficient memory message.

I got it to work by downloading the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. It took several  hours to complete the installation, but it worked.
