Predator 15 G9-591-70XR battery drains while plugged into AC adaptor

I bought this computer because it seemed like the best choice in terms of the excellent advertised battery life and the ability to play my favorite games on ultra settings.

I did my research and checked out many reviews that wowed me, apparently none of the articles or videos I viewed picked up on what I discovered.

I was shocked while playing games like Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 that the battery began to drain while plugged into the AC adaptor. The amber charging light on the battery indicator was a dead giveaway.

This indicates to me as a poor design for the battery to discharge under full load while connected to the AC adaptor.

After extensive research I have discovered that many people have complained about this issue and nothing has been done by Acer to correct this issue.

What say you Acer?

yes, it drains, but what's your problem with that?

It drains here down to 92% after 5 hours gaming for e.g. .

It was the same with my Asus Rog before. Nothing very special.

I have already. They suggested I send my laptop in. Are you kidding me? Why would I pay to send my laptop through the mail. FYI, I sent my first laptop back to Amazon for free I might add, for a replacement laptop. I figured maybe it was a bad battery or ac adapter. To my amazement the same issue persists with the replacement.

Stevie I have a very big problem with that. FYI I played about 4 hours on this laptop and the battery got down to about 51%. Yes I have seen that thread before and I do not accept Acer's response. I felt I had to reopen this issue because the battery draining is only good for acer not the consumer. That is a terrible 'feature'. Let me give you a little of my background. I have owned laptops since the late 1980's. I have never ever ever EVER owned a laptop that drains the battery while connected to ac power. I have a degree in electical engineering. I probably could create a better power supply which I might because Acer is not listening to their customers, but that only helps me not the community. I also have a background in battery systems. So I know a thing or two about batteries and how to make them last longer.
Ok today you might say laptops are much more powerful than in 5he 1980's and 1990's. I agree. You Might say that batteries draining while connected to ac power is normal citing your example of your Asus ROG. I disagree. Let me ask you something. What would you prefer a battery that lasts 2 or 3 months or a battery that lasts 2 or 3 years, maybe longer depending on how much you use it. Simple battery theory the more you discharge your battery, you reduce battery life. Under normal use you may discharge your battery 1x or 2x a day depending on your usage. If you connect your ac power to your computer you should not drain your battery. But in this case you do, which will further reduce the life of your battery. So instead of having a battery that lasts 2 to 4 hours, this design after a period of time will reduce your run time on battery. That means you have to replace your battery more often. Do you understand why I have a problem now? Acer should bite the bullet and give their customers what they want. A power supply that will charge the battery and keep it charged while under full load.
