How to disable Care Centre?

How can I disable the Acer Care Centre on Windows 10? I do not wish to uninstall it per se, I just do not need it running at startup.

 

I have already checked the program's settings, the startup listing in the task manager and the windows services listing but there does not appear to be anything related to the care centre startup in any of these locations (which is pretty **bleep**ty really - when you're loading devices with software and hiding how to disable it, then that's pretty much the definition of malware!).

There isn’t an option to remove this app from start up. You can however uninstall it by way of Settings>System>Apps & Features. Maybe other users have been successful with this and can share a solution?

I had the same complaint as TobyM, but I think I've worked out a solution.

 

It turns out disabling this behaviour is fairly easy, at least in Win 8.1. ACCStd.exe seems to be the culprit. It's an executable launched automatically (post-startup) through a scheduled task. Here's what I did to stop it:

• Open the Task Scheduler (windows key + R, type taskschd.msc, 'OK')
• Look for a task named ACCBackgroundApplication. Right-click it and select 'Properties'.
• Click the 'Triggers' tab, 'At log on', and 'Edit'. Uncheck the 'Enabled' box. Hit 'OK' to exit that window, and again on the 'Properties' window.
• Back in the main Task Scheduler window, right-click ACCBackgroundApplication again, and click 'disable' for good measure.

These steps should prevent Care Center from starting automatically, without having to uninstall or delete any of its components.

 I can't confirm the above works exactly the same way in Win 10 or 7, but hopefully this will point anyone else looking for answers in the right direction.
