Unable to complete a factory reset for Z630

Just tried to install update Acer_AV0L0_T03_1.007.00_PA_CA.  Put phone down to do other things and came back to a screen showing red and blue text with the first line reading: "Android system recovery <3e>".

 

I've tried selecting "wipe data/factory reset" several times and selecting the 'Yes' option to wipe all data. I performed a full power down and have even removed the battery to ensure a full reboot. Additionally the root integrity check fails.  I'd be happy to figure out how to restore the system via my laptop and USB but searching for "Acer_AV0L0_T03_1.007.00_PA_CA" turns up almost nothing.

 

I'm not sure what my next steps are...

    Try these steps to reset the phone:

     

    1. Under the status of power off, at the same time press the Volume Up + Power key, after five seconds you should get first shock, keep pressing.

    2. After second shock, Press the volume down button immediately, until you enter the recovery mode (3 seconds after the shock)

     

    Then you should be able to choose down from recovery menu 5th option called "wipe data/factory reset".

    (you can choose between menus with Volume keys, accept with Power key)

    Unfortunately I have completed all of those steps to no avail.  When I run the integrity check option, it fails.

     

    I'll return the phone to Costco in exchange for a new one. Hopefully it fares better.
