I have a blank screen on boot no files seem damaged but have not done a factory reset. Display fine through a second monitor. Can a bios update help, and if so which bios should I use? If a repair/replacement of backlight or inverter is needed, please advise if this can be done myself or if not any idea of cost? This product is only 1.5 years old. Thanks for any help Rep

It seems to be LCD screen issue. Your model laptop has a LED backlight so it doesn’t have an inverter circuit.  The LED backlight has a LED driver board it might be faulty or any of the LED’s might be faulty which might affect the working of the backlight as the LED array is in series connection. It will be better if you can check with a technician before purchasing the LED screen.

Do a power drain and check if you get the display on the laptop screen and check the display toggle function key too.

As you get the display in the external screen there might not be any issue with the graphics card. Sometimes the connection from the motherboard to the LCD screen can be loose. If you are technically sound in opening laptops check the connection of the screen from the motherboard.

It seems to be an issue with the backlight. How long did the screen worked properly?
