Ram upgrade problem Acer M3985

Hello guys i have a question for my pc
below are the spec/detail of my pc

Acer M3985

Part No         : DT.SJQSM.006

Model           : AM3985-7377W8D

Description   :AM3985-7377W8D,CI7-3770, 4G,1TB,BDC,GT640,W8SL6

 

Original spec are GT 640 (4GB Gddr3 variant) , 1 stick of 1600 mhz 4GB Ram , Core i7 3370 , 1 TB hard drive 

 

Then i upgrade it myself to a GTX 750TI (2GB GDDR5) , and 4GBx4 stick of 1600 mhz Ram

 

but then two of the ram has some problem so i decided to buy some new one and add in myself

i know that on the spec sheet it only support 16GB of ram and support a maximum of 4GB Memory size per socket , no matter which mobo i had (there were two varient).

Therefore i would like to know that 

 Had someone out there had tried running a single 8GB ram stick or adding over 16gb of Ram 

I will bear the risk of trying and the responsible of damaging my system in case something gone wrong.
