Acer switch 11v battery drain when shut down, hibernate and sleep

I have a acer switch 11v (SW5-173-61WR) 2in1 tablet bought in Turkey. After using 90 days, I noticed something strange and very annoying; when I shut down my device ( in start > on/off > shut down ) battery drains every hour about %5- %6. Sometimes I can not open device without power cable and this makes me crazy. I updated BIOS, disabled fastboot, change intel power settings and the problem still persistent. I called Acer support center and they said its not a problem! They do not accept repairment and if I send this device to Acer service, they wont do anything. I want to understand something, if anyone has the same problem and is it a fault software or faulty hardware? I'd appreciated any solution and advice.

I think my lithium polymer battery damaged.

I have the same exact issue. I think the problem stems from a faulty Acer driver/program and the "fast boot" option in windows 10. I think an Acer driver is preventing the system from completely entering the shutdown state, but appears to be fully shutdown. Follow the instructions here and see if this helps:

I have disabled fast boot and am in the process if determining if that has solved my "system shutdown power drain"" issue. I will update as my testing progresses.

I unplugged my switch 11v (my model is SW5-173) and waited about 4 hours and turned it back on and the battery reported 97%...I then plugged in the power adapter and it immediately went to 100%...I know that Acer issued a bios update to fix issues with battery reporting issues in windows 10, but I don't think that they have completely solved the issue...I currently have the latest bios (ver 1.08) and when it's plugged in Win10 reports 100% charged...unplug the power adapter and it immediately drops to 97%...I know that this thread reports a problem with battery drain when the system is apparently shutdown, but i think we have other issues as well.

I will unplug overnight and report back to see what the battery reports in the morning after I power it back up.

I also suspect that I might have an issue with the battery...I'll start testing....Thx, Nick

Switch 11v was shutdown and unplugged for 24 hours, then rebooted on battery power...battery percentage in Win10 once booted showed 94%...I am not an expert, but 5% drain in 24 hours in a little excessive. I have several laptops that if they are completely shutdown and not used for several weeks can be rebooted with an almost full battery. I am guessing that this laptop will have less than 30% (14 days x 5%/day = 70%)...that is not acceptable and I would like to know if Acer is aware if this excessive battery drain when shutdown.

I am not sure if a BIOS update could fix this issue? Please advise

Firstly, yes %5 is very excessive for lithium polymer battery. But Acer do not accept it. However, I solved the issue. First you need to do, you should give up your OS and serial. I mean, you will do a clean Windows 10 installation as Windows 10 Pro. But important thing is that, you have to install it as legacy not an uefi. To be able to do it, go your bios settigs (while opening just press F1 or F2) and disable secureboot, after that choose legacy instead of UEFI. Then prepare a bootable usb as legacy.You can use rufus application. Next step is install your new windows. After a new Windows, you have to install some drivers from Acer website and these are;
İntel turboboost, realtek card and sound driver, chipset driver, bluetooth driver for atheros or intel, wifi for intel and intel thermal driver. Do not install others. After these steps, sign in your new windows and go power settigs and disable fastboot option. If you cannot find, just google it. After these operations your problem will be fixed. I used these steps and solved my problem. I hope you will solve as well.

Turn off all sleep and hibernate functions in power settings. Turn off, dont use sleep.

If still problem download bios update from acer and windows uodate they suggest first.

I left the laptop sit for almost 2 weeks and the battery was down to less than 30%. I had updated the bios and disabled all windows power saving features (sleep, hibernation, hybrid win 10 power down) . Sent the laptop to acer for repair . They changed the battery and motherboard . Tested again when I received it back . Displayed the same behavior . Sent it back for repair and they decided to keep it and switch me into a similar model that is working (not losing battery charge when off) better .

There is definitely something wrong with this model. I'm not sure if it's a hardware or bios problem . As a side note , my version had the extra hard drive in the keyboard. That may have been partially to blame, but I wasn't able to test. Good luck and I hope that acer finds the solution.

Thanks for your comments. I am very happy for you, you have a chance to change your computer. Nowadays, I am communicating with Acer for the same process. I also want to change with the regular machine. But you are right, this switch 11v is problematic.

Have you solved your problem? I'm having a similar problem right now. 15% drain in 12 hours.

I don't understand how a clean install would solve the problem.

I am sorry that you are having the same problems I had. I think it must be a design problem with that machine. I really liked the size of it and the features, but since I didn't use my laptop on a regular basis, every time I went to turn it on I was greeted by a dead machine. After to unsuccessful repairs, Acer decided to switch (sts) me to a different model, which has worked great. Thx

This problem is persistent. I bought this laptop because I loved its specs and design. However, I think this problem cannot be solved. BIOS upgrade, reinstalling windows etc. I tried everything but there is no solution. Also in Turkey, Acer does not accept this situation as a problem. These laptops are faulty products. I wanted to switch this laptop with a similar model but they didnot accept it. I am really sad about it but I will not buy another Acer product because of this. I have never been in a situation something like that. And I know they will also delete this message and they'll say this comment is offensive.
