G9-791 Tried to enable AHCI in BIOS, killed laptop

Since I upgraded to an SSD, I tried to enable AHCI mode in the BIOS, just like I did with my Alienware laptop.  After changing the setting, and rebooting, I was unable to boot the system (thats ok), but also unable to get back into the BIOS to change it back to RAID.

That caused me to have to return the laptop to where I bought it, and get a new one, still under warranty.  Is there some reason the BIOS gets clobbered when changing this setting?  Id like to use AHCI mode instead, but I cant afford to brick another laptop.

I got it! I actually downloaded and installed the newest RST from Intel (14.8.XXX), then changed 4 setting in my registry to reflect AHCI changes. Rebooted without enabling AHCI in the BIOS, to make site everything was still good. Perfect. Rebooted back to the BIOS, and enabled ONLY AHCI. Didn't change any other settings. Rebooted (twice), and all is working!
