I have the Iconia Tab 8 tablet - I turned it on this afternoon and left it, it was plugged in also at the time, I was away from it for about 2 hours, when I went to it, it would not switch on, the screen was just blank, also the back of the tablet was VERY hot.  I still have not managed to get it to work now, it was fully charged at the time.  Has the battery overheated??  anyone else have this issue?

Disconnect the charger and let things cool down, then see if it'll boot. There is, IIRC, a thermal overload that shuts down if the system gets too hot. Booting cold should tell you if there has been any damage.

Now, why it got too hot is another thing. You might have a battery issue, a problem with the charger, or something in the motherboard/display. Are you still in warranty?

Thank you for your reply.  I have let it cool down for a few hours now, but still no luck in turning it on, and the charger seems to be inefectual also.   Not sure if its still under warranty.

IIRC the warranty is one year, so check to see when you bought it. Sounds to me like it really wants a trip back for repair.
