Hi there,

I have a g9-791 and am having trouble getting my second external monitor to work. I would like to use the built in screen, plus 2x external monitors, the 980m as far as I know should be capable of this.

first monitor is plugged into the hdmi port, when i plug second one into display port, the screen is not detected in windows, however as soon as I unplug the hdmi, the displayport screen starts working. and Then if I plug the hdmi back in, display port stops and hdmi works again.

I have noticed in advanced display settings, the hdmi screen shows the intel gpu as display adapter. display port however shows the gtx 980m.

How can I get the built in screen and 2 external monitors working using the hdmi and display ports?

note: I have latest nvidia drivers and bios update. win10 is also fully updated.

Thanks for the replies guys, it helped me get to the solution in a round about kind of way.

So intel graphics control panel doesnt show the display port monitor, as its on the gtx. Win 10 display settings was only showing allowing me to extend accross, monitors 1 and 2, and 3 was not an option or shown in the screen arrangement diagram. However it did let me have desktop extended accross screens 1 and 2, and then clone 2 to 3. finally some progress of sorts, and rather oddly, once in that state, i could then extend 2 and 3, while still extended across 1 and 2.

No idea why it was so strange to configure, but i now have my desktop extended across screens 1, 2 and 3, using built in, hdmi, and display port.

    Hi,

all settings for external monitors should be adjusted via the Intel driver.

The HDMI belongs to the Intel and the Nviia is connected to display port.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience here, but I look forward to an sulution because I planned something equal.

There's an newer Thunderbolt firmware ...but they have still problems with that. I tried to update via Acer Care Center. There's a Solution from Acer in the German formum. But I would suggest to wait for a more professional solution.

The solution seems to be to put the update exe at the c drive because they were not able to program it correclty and the paths are false.

I don't have your computer model, but the specs somewhat imply that you must use HDMI and VGA to get the triple.  At least that is my interpretation. So the triple would be built-in, HDMI, VGA.....I think.  I could easily be wrong on that.
