M3910 i3 540 3.07GHz tower possible RAM upgrade? - maximum RAM per slot for my model?

Hi,

I'v had my M3910 i3 540 3.07GHz for a while now and am very happy with it as a day to day PC, but just lately I'm getting regular crashes and intend to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch. I'd like a little more speed so will install SSD and more RAM (3GB at the moment), but the specs on available RAM on the web are confusing. I had a compatible 8GB stick available but this froze the Acer startup screen. I'd like 16GB (claimed max) but will settle for 8GB.

Is the RAM limit per slot 2GB as claimed in the specifications, or can I get 4GB in each of the 4 slots? Crucial is stating that it takes 1600 RAM, but the specs say 1333? FYI my serial number starts: [edited for privacy]

Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    Your desktop supports up to 16Gb - DDR3 - 1333MHz (4x4Gb under OS 64-bit).

    1. Original memory module:
      Spoiler
      KN.4GB0B.011DIMM.4GB.DT.DDR3.1333 (Samsung)
    2. Compatible memory modules:
Crucial (they will work at 1333MHz without any problems)
    France
