When connected for recharge a lighning icon is briefly displayed followed by no apparent action. Occasionally an icon of a disconnected power plug is also displayed. When I press the side on/off button an Acer page is very briefly displayed but will not remain. I can not get any of these actions without the power connection. What do the icons precisely mean and why can't I get some life in to my tablet please?

Sounds like you are not charging or charging very slowly. Are you using the supplied Acer charger? Have you tried charging overnight before turning it on?

    Ace billsey,

I think you are absolutely on the right track here. A magnifying glass has reveiled that the pins inside the tablet mini USB have been forced out of line at some previous time. Using a wooden cocktail stick I have been able to prize the pins down and secured a good power cable connection. That was 2 hours ago. I now see a coloured progress indicator on screen when I press on/off. Great. Bed calls; tablet can look after its self now. Thank you.

Wow. You see bent pins in the cylinder type charge ports, but hardly ever in the USB style, since they have that little circuit board to keep things in place. Great that you got it sorted out though!
