If you buy a recertified x34, are you pretty certain to lose the overclock to 100Hz lotto? I would certainly love to have a 100Hz model, but I'm not niave, and I would expect that buyers are returning the ones which can't hit 100Hz all the time.

From my time on this forum, I can safely say that all of the "I can't get to 100hz" problems are user error.  They are usually using dodgy DP cables, or haven't set up their hardware or software correctly.  In all of the forum threads I've seen so far, the user has been able to get to 100hz through a series of troubleshooting steps which usually ends in them replacing their crappy cheap DP cable with a decent one which then lets them get to 100hz @ 3440x1440.

I really don't think that you will have any issues with reaching 100hz on a recertified X34.  You are only likely to see scan-lines because as far as I'm aware this issue is on every single X34 out there and hasn't been addressed by Acer at all yet.  Pretty sure it's baffling them, or they don't believe that there is actually an issue there.

I've been using my X34 now for almost 9 months and can safely say that I forgot the "scan lines" are even there.  I'm really enjoying the monitor and wouldn't give it over for anything Smiley Happy

I had the same apprehension as you, actually, reading about some of the complaints and figuring I'd get one of those returns.  I just got mine about 4 hours ago and loving it so far.  Haven't noticed any dead pixels yet, in excellent physical condition, and it overclocked to 100hz no problem.

I am still not out of the woods, need more time with it and who knows what I'll see once night hits in a couple hours (backlight bleed, etc).  But so far absolutely blown away by this screen, and really happy I got the recertified one.  Even if I find a minor issue, I'm likely to keep it due to the great price.

    Good luck.

Both of these replies are fantasic and very helpful! I've also read about the scanline issue, and some of the other minor issues with the monitor. I currently have the XB280HK. I love the 4k resolution, and g sync, but not the fixed 60Hz refresh rate Smiley Sad

I'm really on the fence with this monitor, hence my investigation into the recertified version Smiley Happy.

Following up on my post from earlier in this thread.  After owing for 2 days, the only issue is backlight bleed in the corners, but this is typical of IPS panels and looking at pics online and reviews mine is about par for the course, not out of the ordinary.

You can't see it during the day, and barely notice it at night, in dark scenes and only in the corner, mainly lower left.  But it's something I can live with considering part of it is tech related and the benefits of IPS are also great.  Have a 4K TN panel next to it and this one looks way better.

None of the other issues, and able to OC to 100hz no problem.  Hope it stays like this, I was very worried after reading about the issues people were having, and knowing I was getting a recertified.  Now very glad I did!
