I am sure you good people can help me, if not point me in the right direction.

I have an old Aspire 3003LM which is working fine, although it only has 256mb ram, I bought 2 Gb RAM in 2x1gb modules - pc2700, 333mhz etc. all as the guides etc said. The system will not boot with these in, either singulary or together, revert back to 256mb and it boots OK. Was asuured by supplier that this was correct RAM and would work in this system, checked all numbers/codes etc. all seemed to comply. Have now seen that it appears only certain chips will work with this unit. Can anyone please advise, thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Your issue comes probably from the memory amount.

According to the Acer specification, this model supports:

    • 256Mb or 512Mb of DDR 333 SDRAM standard, upgradeable to 1Gb with dual SO-DIMM modules.

For Aspire 3003WLMi, Transcend also gives 1Gb max.

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

Every manual and memory sizer said the max is 2gb, max per slot is 1gb which is what I have put. All stated it must be pc2700 333mhz and as indicated from supplier this complys with everything required and was type to for this notebook. Your help is greatly appreciated

Thanks. I would try with the Samsung memory module only. May be you made a little mistake:

    Samsung M470L2923BN0-CB3   Is this one?

yes, that number you suggested is theone, i have tried it alone and it does not work, ie. it does not boot. i have tried both modules alone and neither allow a boot, if i revert back to the 256mb it will again boot
