After unit goes to sleep, it will not power back up unless I first unplug and reconnect it.

If unit is in sleep for a short time it will power back up.  After several hours, I must unplug and reconnect for it to totally reboot.

Go to Power Options/and check Choose what closing the lid and Power button do. change plan settings/ change advanced power settings/sleep. Turn Hybrid sleep off and set both hibernate settings to never.

Try it and see if it's working better.

This did not resolve the problem!   I must still unplug and totally reboot in order to gain access.

I have no idea why my answer was there two times.

In Advanced power settings, change Hard disk/ Turn off hard disk to Never.

Chech here http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers for your laptop model and see if there is a Bios update for it. Wouldn't hurt to post the model and Windows version  here too.

Acer Aspire x1430, windows 10:  Problem continues to get worse.  Now I shut down power strip tow or 3 times before unit reboots.  I'm afraid it will reach a point where it does not come back. I've tried all the previous suggestions. I noticed that when the startup will be successful, there is a beep sound shortly after power is restored.  If there is no beep, the unit does not reboot.  What on earth could possibly cause this? Surely my problem is not one of a kind. HELP!!!

Try testing or getting the power supply tested.
