My Aspire E 15 Touch won't recognize I'm plugging my guitar in.

I'm trying to record some stuff using Audacity so i'm using an adapter to convert my guitar cord into a 3.5mm male end. I plug it in to what looks like a "two-in-one headphone/microphone" jack because it is the only audio-in jack on this laptop. Nothing happens when I plug it in and when I go to sound and look through recording devices, nothing shows up. Any solutions?

Thanks!

In Recording devices it doesn't show a microphone without anything plugged in? Right click in the body and click show disabled/disconnected devices. Does your sound work OK?

Without anything plugged in, it shows the built in mic as an option and I do have disabled devices showing. Everything is the same when I plug in my guitar as well. My sound does work well.

You might want to hear about the lag with a guitar and need for an amp

See if this will give you more control over the line in

Windows Key + S > type Realtek HD Audio Manager then click on "Realtek HD Audio Manager Control panel" > Speakers > Device advanced settings.

Do you know if the 3.5 plug on the adapter is the correct one for the Acer?
