H236HL Monitor Wont Play HDMI Audio

I just bought a brand new Acer H236HL monitor with HDMI audio and video input capability.  I connected it to my PC via a brand new HDMI cable.  While the video looks great, there is no audio output from the H236HL speakers whatsoever.  Here is what I’ve done to troubleshoot the issue:

1.  I’ve plugged my PC into three other monitors via HDMI cable, and sound has successfully played on each of these monitors with no problem.  Consequently, my PC is not the problem.

2.  I’ve verified that the monitor shows up in Windows device manager under the “Audio inputs and outputs” node as “Acer H236HL (Intel SST Audio Device (WDM))”.  I’ve also updated the driver and verified that the device is enabled.

3.  I’ve gone to Control Panel > Sound and made sure that the Acer H236HL playback device exists in the list.  I’ve made sure it is enabled, and set as both the default device and the default communications device.

4.  I’ve ensured that both PC volume and speaker volume on the H236HL are at 100.

I bought this monitor specifically because it supports both video and audio HDMI input.  Since my PC outputs HDMI audio to every other monitor except this one, could someone please help me solve what is wrong with this monitor?  Thanks so much.
