Laptop going black

I have the Predator G9-591. yesterday was a fairly heavy gaming day. I had the charger plugged in. Twice over the course of the day, the laptop just shutdown.

The first time I noticed that the yellow light indicating charging wasn't on, thought it was strange, so uinplugged it the charger and the laptop just turned off. No normal shutdown, just straight to black.

The charger was still plugged in and turned on though.

The charger itself was quite warm, but I didn't think anything of it.

A few hours later, same issue, battery charge light was no longer on, battery indicated approx 30% power,  I disconnected charger and laptop shutdown again.

This time the charger was very hot to the touch, and when I reinserted the charger, the orange light flickered on for about a second and then went out. The laptop would not restart.

While I was typing this, it happened again. Orange LED indicating charging went out, I pulled the plug out and laptop went black. Charger was only mildly warm.

I then conducted the "Battery Reset" procedure.

After I restarted the laptop, I came back here, all the text was still in this box.

Any advice on what might be causing this?

Edit. This happened again. Was only using it to surf web. Off charge , on battery power. Had approx 62% left. Laptop just died. Tried to restart, started briefly, then died again. Had to put it on charge to restart it.

Becoming very annoying.

So as it turns out a technician is not coming to my house. They want me to ship the computer 3400 kms away to get the computer looked at, even though there is an Acer Warranty Repair facility in my city. Not only that, they have no batteries in stock, and the earliest they'll get it is the 30th May.

Technical support don't really listen to what you have to say, I get the feeling all they are doing is reading prepared answers off a screen.

But your G9 is not completly new? You already used it without this strange issue some time before?

Did you already reset the battery? There's a little hole from the bottom. You can find it in the manual.

I had a strange issue with the sound and resetting UEFI to default has helped.

If problem persists, you can only reset the hole machine (do backup before) and then, if it's not solved, I would think of returning it.

That sounds not good. Did you already ask the Acer support?

They may ask you to reset it first. But it sound like something faulty like the Power Unit or the Battery.

I would advice to ask Acer.

So I called Acer support.  They we really helpful. They seem to be leaning towards a dodgy battery as well. So, they are sending a technician to my house to repair it. I was really surprised by that. I'm quite impressed.

I'm sorry for your bad luck here....but it sounds like there's no way....than sending it back.

I would try an alterative PSU also, maybe you can get one easier?
