Webcam not working on Acer Aspire SW5-011

The webcam on my Acer Aspire SW5-011 stopped working suddenly. I've checked for updates in Windows 10 and everyting is up to date. There are no conflicts or issues in Device Manager. I am running Windows 10 Home version 1511 (which I believe is the latest version). I've tried using the webcam with a couple of different apps and it's not working. For instance, when I try using Skype, I get a notificationn that it couldn't find a webcam and that I should install one. Any ideas? Thanks!

After installing windows update from the windows 10 Operating System, you are still facing issue with webcam to be working. To help you further, it is advised to uninstall the previous webcam drivers from the laptop and then let the windows 10 automatically reinstall it by its own. To uninstall webcam drivers, please follow the steps given below:
    - Press ‘Windows’ key + ‘R’ key on the keyboard.
    - Type in ‘devmgmt.msc’ in the run box and hit Enter.
    - Now device manager will open up, search for ‘Imaging devices’ from the list.
    - Right click on ‘Imaging devices’ and click on ‘Properties’.
    - Now click on ‘Driver’ tab and then click on ‘Uninstall’ button to uninstall the webcam drivers.
    - Restart the system once the drivers are uninstalled and then wait for a while to windows automatically install the drivers.

If issue persists, it is recommended to contact Acer Support Center for further assistance from the link given below:

    Hope this will help you.

Thanks for the reply, GuruAid-CS. I tried your suggestion several times and it didn't work. I'll be in touch with Acer support.

This seems a bit similar to http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10/Switch-10-Win10-Audio-driver-not-working/m-p/430129

Does it work when you install the Windows 10 "Platform Drivers"?

Otherwise try the Windows 8 "Master Installer" drivers

Thanks! We're on the right track. I tried the Windows 10 Platforms Drivers and received an error, like you suggested. I then downloaded the Windows 8 Master Installer and when I tried this one, I received an error saying: "Error: This driver package is not compatible with your device. Please download the latest driver from the Acer website." Any suggestions?

I noticed (a clean install of) Windows 10 doesn't automatically install drivers for the Webcam and Audio.

But all drivers seem to work fine after doing the upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 instead of a clean install.

Installing the drivers manually might help then. But the Windows 10 drivers don't actually work, as you noticed.

But in your case the Windows 8 drivers didn't work either. If it says "This driver package is not compatible with your device" then I don't know why it gives that error, if you really have a Switch 10 (SW5-011).

It still is strange your webcam suddenly stopped working. Sorry I don't have anymore suggestions Smiley Frustrated
