Screen resolution for Acer CB5-571-58HF ??

I just got a CB5-571-58HF from a seller on ebay. Nice little machine. However, the display is set at 1366x768. This model is supposed to be 1920x1080 - at least thats what all the specs online say. When I go into Settings->Display Settings, into the Manage Displays... the Internal Display is indeed set to "1366x768(best)", and there is no option in the droplist for "1920x1080".

So, how does one set the display on this device to the true HD 1920x1080??

I spent some time on the line with Google support, reinstalled the ChromeOS, etc, etc... still this lame display.

If anyone has any suggestions for how to get this OS to recognize the displays true HD potential, please let me know?

According to this (http://community.acer.com/t5/Monitors/chromebook-15-ips/m-p/369926/thread-id/1013/highlight/true), the LCD panel for this model is (http://www.panelook.com/LP156WF4-SPL1_LG%20Display_15.6_LCM_overview_22815.html).... which clearly shows that it should support 1920x1080.

So, I wonder why the Chrome OS is not showing that as an available option to chose?

Does your S/N start by NXMUNAA009...? I ask this question because there are CB5-571 with HD panels.

Thanks for replying... yes, the S/N starts with NXMUNAA009* According to everything I've read online, and on Acers site, indicate that this model should have 1920x1080 for the built in display.

I can't see why it would not be an option available.
I also booted it into Linux (via a live USB stick) and that also only showed the 1366x768 resolution.... as if the hardware itself cannot handle it?

This is the higher end Chromebook 15, with the i5 processor... I cant imagine why they would have given the stronger model a cheaper screen?

I would look for the brand part number with HWINFO DOS version. I used it but I don't remember if it is possible to see the part number with this version. Try it's only a hardware monitor.

Since Acer does not offer even the simplest Support online (Unless you have a valid Serial Number for a product that is under warentee), I could not get an answer to my question. And apparently, no one really knows??

Simple question, really... "What is the actual screen resolution for their CB5-571-58HF Chromebook?"

I spent hours on the phone with Google Support (which was great, btw)... we checked this and that, reinstalled ChromeOS (several times), etc, etc, etc. This machine was advertised as having 1920x1200 resolution... but that was not an available option in the settings.

I could get 1920x1200 from the machine, but only if I connected it to an HD TV via HDMI... the internal display never gave 1920x1200 as an option...

So, since this is how it is... I returned the machine. I was looking forward to a lower cost travel laptop, but I guess I'll just stick with a MacBook Pro instead.

Hello,

This model is shipped with a FHD none glare screen (1920x1080) but I think there was a problem in production. As I wrote, CB5-571 can be in HD or FHD according the variante. Only my opinion. I'm not an Acer employee.

Hi John,

It may be an issue with how the unit was recertified. I show the same information that Laurent has provided. The device you've listed is showing to have a FHD display. The warranty is handled by our recertified partner and here is their contact page. They'll be best able to assist.

Screen Resolution Concerns in general: I suggest that you connect the unit to an external monitor and make the external monitor the Primary monitor, not a Mirrored monitor. With the external monitor set as the Primary then check the resolution setting, you may find that the resolution available is much higher that the internal monitor.
