Hello

I have been working with the Acer Switches now for some time we have the Switch 10 & the Switch 10E Approx 200 i currently build and control.

We have this all sussed and feel i know the device extremmly well.

Recently i have started to take more of an interest in the way Microsoft licenses these products and it has lead me to a few questions.

These devices are brought with 8.1 Home / 10 Home and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise depending on requirements using mak / kms.

what happens to these keys when we sell the devices on, can i put 8.1 Home / 10 Home on and Microsoft will know its entitled for that device, or does the device now carry on using this key?

Thankyou

Microsoft ties the OEM keys to the hardware, so you are not licensed to use the key on a different computer, even if you've replaced the OS on the original system. This is also true for most volume license keys, such as larger companies and organizations use.

So... You can put the original OS back on, as long as you keep the key matched to the device. Whether you can sell the device with the version of the OS that you installed is a question that will have to be asked of your IT people. Some volume licenses don't transfer out of the company.
