Aspire 705 BSOD HELP

Hey,

Just recently grabbed an aspire 705 refurb and it's pretty fast. I've been using it and randomly it'll get the BSOD and my wireless mouse that's connected will lag/ the keyboard will get stuck on a certain letter. This has happened with multiple keyboards and mouse. There are usually BSOD I get which are driver_irql_not_less_or_equal(usbxhci.sys) and kmode_exception_not_handled.

This is driving me crazy and hopefully there is a fix for this, I'm not trying to return the PC as it would be a pain.

EDIT - The drivers and BIOS are up to date. I tried doing a "fresh" install that kept all of the acer bloatware.. ADDED THE DUMPS from bluescreen viewer below

Sorry! Spaced that important detail but it's an aspire tc-705 (ATC-705-uc52).

I thought windows was fully up to date but I will immediately update it.

    check your BIOS version:

    windows logo key + r

    type

    msinfo32

    look at BIOS version/DATE

    then

    http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/4958;-;Aspire%20TC-605

    click on BIOS tab

P11.xx version must be updated only with P11.xx updates

P21.xx version must be updated only with P21.xx updates

    Hey,

You posted the wrong link to my desktop series, its a acer aspire tc 705 instead of a 605 but I double checked with the bios on that page and everything is up to date. I have also updated my windows completely, but it still crashes.

Ops, sorry about the wrong model link, too many open tabs. Smiley Happy

Try to update Intel chipset drivers:

    http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Chipset/Chipset_Intel_10.1.1.8_W10x64_A.zip?acerid=635762648526668967&Step1=DESKTOP&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20TC-705&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

normally it only change device label, nothing else...

or you can try to manually change the USB XHCI drivers to microsoft default if available.
to fix it, i clicked on Drivers tab, then update drivers, browse my computer, let me pick from a list and choosed the Microsoft version, clicked on next and then rebooted.

First off, IronFly. I really appreciate all of your help, but unfortunately this still isn't working. I had already downloaded the intel chipset drivers for that previously. I have also tried what you had asked me to do but only 1 set of drivers show up. It stil crashes randomly. I have attached a screen shot below

can you please report the hardwareID of this controller?

Details tab, scroll the drop downmenu until HardwareID, copy and paste the first string.

i also noticed an unknow device on your device manager, do you know what it is?

    IronFly,

After investigating the unknown device, it was my vpn software. The hardware ID of the controller that I showed you previously was

    USB\VID_045E&PID_0745&REV_0656
    USB\VID_045E&PID_0745

Do you have any devices connected to the USB3 ports?

If you want to try something easy.....

Just use one of your sticks of ram.  If you still have the problem, then try using the other one.  Maybe one of your ram modules is bad.

That's a pretty nice computer with i7 4790.......and I'm wondering if that's why it was returned by the previous owner.

Hey, I had a keyboard dongle attached to one. It might be the memory but I really didn't want to open it. I might run a mem test to see if theres anything wrong.

If you're troubleshooting, then the only thing you should have connected is your Acer keyboard and mouse that came with it.
