XB270HU V2 framerate for G-Sync

First off this is my first post here so hello.

I bought a XB270HU V2 yesterday and am blown away with it.

After playing BF4 last night with a mate, he asked this morning what i had set the framerate limit in Riva tuner. For which i said 144 as that is what the monitor is.

 His then reply was "you have set it wrong it should be below 144 something like 141 FPS in Rivatune"

When i asked why his reply was its common knowledge but i cant find anything.

I have 2 X Zotac GTX 980Ti "Artic Storm" GPUs so not worried about running out of horses under the bonnet.

G-Sync is on, i have never used V-sync.

Is he right in that i should set the Framerate limit below the 144, or am i right in setting it to 144?
