Basically what happened is, I used my laptop and turned it off, and when I try to power on again (maybe after an hour or so) it is not starting. It’s not going into POST, or gives me any beeps. Screen is completely black. Only activity I here is DVD rom check and motherboard fan starting. I can see power on LED (blue) lights up and battery charging lights up (orange). Buts that’s it.
Before this issue, I didn’t upgrade BIOs or any hardware on the laptop. It was working flawlessly and never had any issues like sudden restart, freezing or blue screen. So since this issue started I have done following to get it sorted.
- I have removed and reseated the RAM cards at the back. I tried them each at a time in both slots. I have removed and reconnected the hard disk.
- I have remove RAM, Hard Disk (off course the battery as well) and left it to be over a day just to remove any charge left in it (also pressed and held the power button over a 1minute).
- I have connected the laptop to an external monitor to see any video output, nothing. As it doesn’t even go to post I wasn’t expecting to see anything anyway.
- I have formatted a USB stick (right click/format/quick format in Windows 7) and pasted latest DOS Bios files from Acer web site, and inserted into the USB port on the laptop and press and hold ‘fn’+’Esc’ and pressed power button. Nothing happened.
Only thing I haven’t done so far is getting into the CMOS Battery. I'm not sure how to do that, as it is not easily accessible. Need help please. Is my laptop done, or any chance we could get this going again? One last thing, Acer doesn’t list my laptop as compatible for Windows 10, but I recently upgraded to Windows 10 (about 4 months now) and never had any issues till now.
