Slow screen virtualisation.

Hi,  I have an Acer 5742 and BIOS v1.3 the latest.  I chose this laptop because as it has 6 gig of RAM so running virtual box won't be a problem with respect to memory.  I loaded and reinstalled virtualbox four different times, installed a Linux OS and each time but each time the screen update is so slow that scrolling down a Firefox web page takes an age and isn't useable.   As a solution I've been dual booting but that isn't what I want to do.

I've checked the community but I haven't found anything other than load the latest BIOS (yes, the latest is in use), and set the virtualisation in the BIOS to enable but I haven't got that as a setting option in my BIOS.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Arthur.
