Acer Aspire Laptop touchpad won't show up in hardware after system recovery

I have Acer Aspire laptop E1-531-2892, it was running Windows 7,  recently my hardrive let go, I was able to install a new harddrive with recovery disk.  It's now up and running again BUT the touchpad doesn't work.  It doesn't show up in devices / hardware.  Which seems to be a regular problem with Acer laptops.  I tried the Function key and f7 which makes no difference.  I tried re-installing the driver no change and it appears when doing that it doesn't even know it's there. There is no setting in BIOS to turn touchpad on or off.  And I feel every message board, but have not found the right one yet.  HELP - going nuts.

    Hi ladybug9691

It looks as if you've already tried everything you can - I can't suggest anything else.

However, you could try one more system recovery, and if that fails to work, then I'd suggest that the touchpad has failed. As your laptop is now out of warranty, try a local PC repair store, or just use a wireless mouse.
