G6-710 suspected Base Fan Speed [Manufactor fault, official answer needed]

So, I have been having many issues with Quality Control on Acer Predators in general. The first one, there was no system fan at all, and the second, although there are no popups indicating a problem, the base fan speed of the CPU fan and the System Fan as shown in the Predator Sense application is not the same. The CPU fan would be at base 1400 rpm while the System fan would be at around 1000 RPM. Similarly, when initiating full speed fan, the CPU fan would get above 5000rpm while the system would barely break 2500 RPM.

I suspect this is a problem, as I have previously used an Acer Predator before that had the same base speeds for CPU and System fan of around 1400rpm. Due to this, the CPU has the tendency to get very hot during gaming(albeit light gaming) reaching very high temperatures.

I would appreciate it if an ACER employee could confirm that the base fan speed of CPU and System fan should be around 1400 rpm, and that the system fan shouldnt be at lower base RPM than CPU fan.

Not all of the fans in the case have the same speeds. Most case fans don't usually go above 2500rpm/3k because they don't need to. The CPU fan will have a higher rpm because it DOES need to, to keep the fins cooled off for when the CPU is cranking at high speeds.

You won't have them set at the same speeds so there is no worry there. Under any stress the CPU will get pretty hot, even for "ligh" gaming. Not to sound rude, but you should read up more on how cooling works in a PC to get a better understanding of how it works (for future reference and what not).

You have nothing to worry about, your fans and case cooling are working as intended. I noticed there isn't a fan up front (which could be a fan that's plugged into the sys_fan header), but I haven't had any cooling issues due to how the case has openenings all over the front. Most PC cases have way to many fans as it is and aren't really needed.

May I ask which version of Predator do you have? Do you have a G6-710 Titan X predator as well?

Although I understand what you are saying, and you might as well be spot on, the only reason I'm questioning this is because I had a predator G6-710 with Nvidia 970 and there I checked using Predator Sense and the base fan speeds were the same. I just cant rest easy knowing that something might be a fault and might cause serious problems in the future.

If the fans are set that way on purpose,(and it can actually reach speeds higher than the supposed "full speed") it would be beneficial to have a way to fully customize the fan speeds so that if I need to, I could crank it up to maximum RPM of the fan to quickly cool down the PC.

I have the predator G6 with the 970, but I put 16gb of ram in along with a Titan X, so I'm right there with you. Oh trust me, I understand what you mean, temps are always a concern to a.... "degree".. Smiley Very Happy

Yes, most case fans only goto a certain rpm speed. but of course you can buy faster ones and install them if needed. All the case fans do (or try to depending) is suck in cool air from the front, pass it over everything and exhaust it out the back. As long as it's doing that you should be fine, but yes, it can still get pretty warm in there.

Luckily for me my PC is downstairs which is much cooler than the upstairs in my house, so that helps. I have been building custom PC's for the better part of 20 years and I have found having a ton of case fans are usually not needed. Of course most PC builds vary so sometimes more cooling is needed no doubt. Usually the PC will start to ramp up the fan speeds as it needs more cooling on it's own, but you can download a few programs that will let you control your fans like you are wanting to do.

I don't know which one is better these days as I haven't used a program like that outside of what comes with most motherboards (like Asus has a fan suite they give you with their stuff) for some time, so you might want to do a google search for that. I do want to look into putting a fan in the front of the case to have a better passover cooling solution, but so far I haven't had any heat issues at all.

I think I figured it out. The aforementioned cap of 2,5k is not of the Case Fan, its the max RPM of the GPU fan( Titan X) If you have a computer with a GTX 970 the cap will be around 4-4,5k instead. Everything is as intended
