Acer Aspire E5-771G Adaptive Brightness Issue

Hi all,

I am unable to turn off the adaptive brightness on my laptop.

So far I've tried the following:

  1. Change the power plan to "high performance"
  2. Adjust the advanced power settings so that the Windows "adaptive brightness" to be turned off both for battery and AC
  3. Changed the settings of the Intel Graphics drivers and set them to maximum performance

None of the above actually changed anything. I cannot belive that this cannot be turned off and it is such annoying feature that would surely make me sell the **bleep** thing!

Please advise!

Do you have Acer quick settings installed?

    1. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key to access the Start screen.
    2. Type Acer Quick Access.
    3. Tap on Acer Quick Access.
    4. Tap the Adaptive brightness slider to it OFF. Disabling Adaptive brightness can reduce battery life.

    Hi there!

Actually I didn't knew that such software existed.

I got my laptop w/o OS and installed directly Windows 10.

I installed Quick Access although the setup name suggests that it is for Windows 8.1.

The bad thing is that I don't have the adaptive brightness option/slider.

What I have instead is the BluelightShield, which is kind'a cool stuff.

However my brightness issue stays unresolved!

    Hi again.

Removed the old and installed the new one - no luck!

    Hi again,

I have the most recent BIOS and I've downloaded most of the drivers from the Acer support website (except the ones installed automatically by Windows).

I have no unrecognized drivers in the device manager.

I am sure that I've taken the Intel VGA driver from the website (actually you cannot update it from anywhere else, because it has been branded somehow).

The nVidia drivers are updated regularly, but I don't think that they are relevant.

Hi, I have the same issue.

Adaptive brightness is really annoying and i tried everything to turn it off.

    Nothing is working.

Maybe changing something straight in the windows registry would stop it.

    Could anyone help?

    Thanks
