Acer Iconia Tab 8 W1-810

I am unable to install the driver for my tablet; when I open "Setup," I receive the following message:

"Intel MRD7 Driver Package PV Release

Failure

The setup program ended prematurely because of the following error:

This platform is not supported."

I was told by a chat agent that I receive this error because my computer (not tablet) is 64-bit, but the Acer website only offers the 32-bit driver; therefore, I have to find the 64-bit driver on another website.  I can't find it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

So let me get this clear... You have replaced the OS on the tablet with a 64bit version? Or are you trying to run the setup program on a different computer?

No, my tablet is 32-bit, but my laptop is 64-bit.  According to the chat agent, that is why I am unable to install the driver.

OK, now I've got to ask what driver you are talking about? The drivers for the W1-810 should be installed on the tablet...

The driver that you install on your computer, so you could connect your tablet to your computer, in order to transfer files from your tablet to your computer...

Nothing happens when I plug my tablet into my laptop; apparently, I have to install the driver first.

The W1-810 is a tablet. You will not find any 64 bit drivers under that model number. What is the make and model of your 64 bit laptop.

BTW I have an Acer Aspire 1 532h that happily runs Windows 7-64. That does not mean Acer supports it which is why it is dual boot for Windows 10-32.

Mow you really confused things. Windows computers are USB masters. You cannot connect two masters with a standard USB cable. I am told that you may be able to with an OTG (On The Go) cable but I just use network shares.

Ah, I understand now... That method is pretty clunky, it's a lot easier to just copy files over your network. If they're both Windows machines just join them both to the same Homegroup and you can copy files from one to the other. IIRC the USB driver was more for remote debugging and so wasn't very efficient at file transfers.

My laptop is an HP Pavilion.

So, there's no way to just plug my tablet into my laptop with a USB cable?

Not a plain USB. I understand a OTG cable may work but is easier to just create a network share. Can even use local link (169.254.x.x) addressing but easier to use a router.
