Hey folks,
I've dusted off an old Acer Iconia Tab A501 with android 3.21 Honeycomb

Kernel 2.6.36.3+

Build Number Acer_A501_4.064.01_AAP_OPTUS

Are there any means of upgrading to Android 4.0 ICS?

It doesn't appear you can update OTA any longer, and a browse of Google doesn't come up with any obvious answers.

I may be asking the impossible.  Any assistence greatly appreciated.

your installed Build is a custom rom for Optus, so only Optus can release an update if they requested to Acer.

another solution is to have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/iconia-a500/development

please double check what you will download, it must be for 501 model or you will loose the 3G module.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I'm hoping this is still getting check on occasion. I'm in the same boat.

    A500

    3.2 Android

    ACER_A501_4.402.03_PA_ATT

Seems like this is a custom build as well. Thought I'd give this a shot to be sure before I delve deeper down this rabbit hole.

Yes, yours is a custom build for AT&T, they would be the ones to release updates. Typically a vendor like that takes the upgrade Acer provides for the non-3G tablet and adds their custom 3G code to it before releasing to the customers.
