Acer Aspire R7-571 RAM memory upgrade

Hello,

I could really use some help upgrading the 4 gb of RAM on this laptop.

 

Crucial's tool recommended: Crucial (model CT4559792) 8GB DDR3-1600 SODIMM with specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64.  See http://goo.gl/XYN51b

 

I bought Crucial (model CT102464BF160B) 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V Notebook Memory.  See www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006YG8X9Y

 

The notebook is not recognizing the memory at all.  Any suggestions, or did I buy the wrong item?  Should I try precisely what Crucial's tool recommended?

Memory controller

Memory size 4G on board Memory

DIMM socket number x 1 socket: Channel A

Supports memory size per socket 2GB/4GB/8GB

Supports maximum memory size Total 12GB

Supports DIMM type SODIMM Supports DIMM Speed DDR3 1333/1600

Support DIMM voltage 1.5V Supports DIMM package DDR3 SODIMM 204 Pin

 

So With the Info above.. Your system has 4 Gb onboard. Then you have a Socket (A) where you can 

add either 2, 4, ot 8gb of ram for a Total max size of 12gb... Hence the 4 Onboard + Max size of 8gb...

 

Then I think where you may have an issue is your system only supports the 1.5V Ram and so if your stick that

you have now is 1.35V it wouldn't work..... Some system are able to run dual Voltage ram. However the stats 

for your system says 1.5V only...
