Aspire One Happy Netbook - Black screen on boot

I have a Acer Aspire One Happy 2DQuu netbook.

It suddenly today will not boot. I press the power button, the power light comes on and stays on, the fan comes on a few seconds then cuts out, and that is it. Nothing on the screen, no POST sounds, no hard drive activity. Nothing.

I tried reseating and replacing RAM. I tried discharging the power. I also tried flashing the bios using fla**bleep**.exe and a BIOS file on a fat formatted USB stick, according to instructions I found on the net. Didn't work.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Would Acer be able to flash the BIOS if I can't? Is there anything else it can be?

This issue can be multiple things. Video card, processor, memory, motherboard, ect. It does not seem to be a power issue so the ac adapter and battery are out, but everything else is suspect. I would have a tech take a look at it to see it they can do some diagnostics on it.

I should mention that I have just replaced the screen. Apparently this happens when you replace the screen on this model. So I have no doubt it is a bios issue. But I can't get it to flash and all googkle searches result in me finding people with the problem but no solution.

This is disgusting. I emailed technical support about this and they replied:

Please note that we would not recommend flashing the BIOS due to the inherent risk of rendering your machine inoperable.

Updated BIOS versions are made available when they offer a substantial advantage over the original installed one, or to fix specific problems reported with the original version. This means that for some products, only the original versions are available.

BIOS versions provided by Acer, have been qualified to work with the product.

While newer versions may be available from other sources, Acer can not offer support on their installation or use, nor specify whether they will work properly with Acer products.

We do not provide instructions on how to update/install BIOS, as it requires experts supervision. We request you to contact a local technician, who may assist you further
