Acer Switch 10E and Windows 10

Recently bought Aspire Switch 10E with w 8.1, then upgraded to w10. This has left me with  very little HD space (insufficient even to carry out a w10 update!) Are there any hidden partitions/folders that I can get rid of to free up space? What about all pre loaded Acer programms? I can't seem to rollback w10 to 8.1 as its now over a month since the upgrade.

    windows logo key + s

    type

    disk

    click on Disk cleanup

click on Clean up system file

have a look at the list for a old windows installation, windows update cleanup and other big files

select it and run the clean

this will free some space on your SSD

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Yeah, often there is a Windows.old folder in C that takes up a bunch of space. Make sure you don't need anything in there and then delete it.

I have a acer 10 switch that only has 21gb of memory....windows 10 requires 16gb so...unless i delete everything on acer, i cannot upgrade.....is it possible go load windows 10 on a different drive..if so how is it done?

The 16GB that Windows 10 needs is already part of the 21GB of the partition. If you provide the update some extra space with an SD card (16GB or larger) it'll use that for temporary stuff while replacing the old Os with the new one. You will end up with more space used than now, but a lot of that is in duplicated files stored in the Windows.old folder it creates to hold stuff it doesn't know where else to put.

Once you are done with the upgrade and decide to keep it, come back and we'll talk about freeing up the extra 9GB or so used by your recovery partition.
