Constant Graphics Failure(M5-583P-9688)

This has been going on since I updated to Windows 10, and I can't revert back. The HD 4400 installed on to the i7-4500U continually fails about every 30 to 45 minutes when I run Minecraft and such things. But I still can't figure it out. And when I try to download the VGA driver with the expected graphics driver included, it still says I have the wrong vendor, even though this is false. Unpacking it from exe or zip also fails. And I made sure I got it from the official driver's page. But seriously, this should be fixed by now. I can't even get generic drivers for the thing.

Whoops, sorry, I forgot to mark solution, here it is: (WARNING: You will NOT be using a Acer approved driver, but a generic one, DOES not void warranty. Get the installer from YOUR HD graphics. Mine is HD4400.)

    1. Download driver for your GRAHPICS driver(HD4400 *CHECK FIRST*) from GENERIC INTEL HD4400 DRIVER SITE: CLICK ME! YES! MEEEE! HOWEVER, do not start yet.

    2. Go to Device manager, find display adapter, and delete the Acer intel one COMPLETELY, THE ONE THAT SAYS INTEL.

    3. Run the installer after you restarted and completely removed the old Acer drivers.

    4. If you have M5-583P, your driver version will be 20.19.15.4380.

    Hi benton582

The M5-583P is listed as compatible with Windows 10, but bizarrely, not the Fall update! This may change, if/when the vendors update drivers, but I suggest (at least for now) to revert back to 8.1.

Your original recovery partition *SHOULD* still be there. If you performed an "in place" upgrade, you will have access to the Acer eRecovery program - it will be listed in your start menu.

Alternately, if you made a back up recovery drive when you first had your laptop, boot from that, or see here to purchase the correct recovery program from Acer.

You may also download Windows 8.1 from Microsoft, but firstly, go to support & download the drivers & apps for your model, and burn them to flash memory or disk.

It's not ideal, I know. But it might be worth emailing your graphics' vendor to see if/when they will update.

No, the problem is, that when I updated to Windows 10, the orgional parition is still there, but the frame work can't be reset. Not sure if BIOS can recover it, but losing Windows 10 now basically is a loss of a free upgrade. I still can't tell why in hell that Acer needs to put a lock on downloading generic/official/THEIR OWN graphics drivers. I see no visible benefit aside from preventing people for overclocking and overheating their computers to oblivion. Which I don't do. But aside from that, I don't want to go through another 6-8 hours of downloading 2 OS again. But most importantly, the latter Windows 8.1 had more problems than the Windows 10 I have now, so Windows 8 is not a option.  But where do I find out when a new graphics driver comes out for my computer, that would be really useful. But I don't know if my computer will accept it reguardless.

    OK.

Once you've linked your PC to Windows 10, you will be able to use it for the lifetime of your machine, so why don't you try a FULL CLEAN installation? If you download Windows 10 - make your own copy either as a Disk or a bootable USB flash drive. Divers are available on the Acer Support site - download these first on a spare disk/Flash drive before you re-install Windows.

If you were receiving problems when you were on WIndows 8/8.1 perhaps it may point to an issue with your machine.

As for finding out about whether a new driver will be written for your machine, you'll need to email/call your graphics vendor - which I believe to be Intel (but double check your spec!)

You mean like redo the whole Windows 10 install? And make sure to include ALL drivers on the website with the USB so there is Acer software to boot with?

Also, I will check into the drivers, but isn't it only able to use the released by Acer drivers due to my computer being "ACER DRIVER ONLY?"

Also, I don't know, but I used to have wireless problems, that spiked every hour, but the driver had faulty software, and was fixed. However, in this case, it seems mostly like the graphics fails every hour due to a possible fault on driver software, but I still don't know how to fix the vendor only problem, or is your solution to do a fresh start with it? Not that I am accually too lazy to do it. But it takes FOUR hours.

Also, I thank you alot for your support, you are helping me alot here, with my warranty going poof and stuff.

Yes, back up all your data, and reinstall from scratch. Although I think you should go back to Windows 8.1 & not 10 - at least for now.

All the drivers are here - just enter your model details.

If you're still getting problems when back on Windows 8.1 then it will be an issue with your PC & not the OS. If WIndows 8.1 runs fine, then it will be an issue with Windows 10...

Has there been a change in status to the updates for the drivers. I see that they are still the same ones and I'm still having the constant driver failure.
