Hello

i have an Aspire 5735-4774 that I am doing an erecovery to factory defaults since Windows Vista does not start after powering up. I did it using the Alt F10 procedure and do not have the recovery disc. It has been in the Please wait while file loads in the last 36 hours. Is this normal? Thanks for your replies

Windows Vista was not loading so had to do a factory reset erecovery twice. I had to keep on hitting Alt F10
So many times to work since I do not have any recovery disk.

    Hello,

    Is this normal?

No. This takes 2 or 3 hours.

Are you sure the D2D option is enabled in the bios setup utility?

Sorry not sure what you meant by the D2D option

In the bios setup utility [F2], you have an D2D option (Disk-to-disk). This one must be enabled for [Alt]+[F10] works.

I went ahead and turned off laptop and turned it back in and now it is running a CHKDSK. It is now at USF journal verification completed. Now it is saying to wait while windows sets up your computer. Hopefully I am on the right path and will post results later. Thanks

Now the screen just says Windows error recovery and gives me options to start windows normal, safe mode, safe mode networking, safe mode command prompt and last known good config. Pressing all 5 just bring me back to the same screen and Windows does not load

    Hello,

    1. Have you created a new partition before this issue?
    2. Have you checked D2D is enabled?
