I am very new to this site.  I have an Acer Aspire that is several years old, but it has been great for me.  Now it will not power on at all.  THe charge light comes on, as well as the power button.  I have taken the battery off, unplugged, then put the battery back in and plugged back.  Nothing.  Any suggestions?

    Hello Susie,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

The charge light comes on, as well as the power button...

    Do you hear the fan?

No, I do not hear the fan at all.

I also went to the BIOS section and copied those files to a flash drive, then held in the "FN" and "ESC" keys to see if that helped.  I'm not super techy, but I can follow instructions well, so if I need to actually work on it, I am up for it!

Actually, the fan starts up, then dies off rather quickly.

Have you tried with an external monitor or a LCD TV by using the VGA port?

[Fn]+[F5]: Display toggle - Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both.
