I want to upgrade RAM an Aspire AM3470-UR12, from 4G upto 8 or 16G

Wondering if I could go from DDR3 1333 to 1600 without trouble. I have looked at several sites and used several Compatibility checkers which give many 1600 options but not many 1333. I want to make sure I'm not wasting time or money going up a step. Also would rather not have to tinker with bios on other settings if that would be an Issue (Not in my Paygrade).  Thanks, John

  • Hello John,

    Your desktop supports up to 16Gb - DDR3 - 1333/1600MHz (4x4Gb).

I suggest you to buy the same memory module.

Here are the original memory modules of 4 Gb:

    Spoiler
    KN.4GB03.014DIMM.4GB.DDR3-1600.NANYA
    KN.4GB07.002DIMM.4GB.DDR3-1333.KINGSTON
    KN.4GB07.004DIMM.4GB.DDR3-1600.KINGSTON
    KN.4GB0C.003DIMM.4GB.DDR3.1600.A-DATA
    KN.4GB0H.001DIMM.4GB.DDR3-1333.UNIFOSA
    KN.4GB0H.003DIMM.4GB.DDR3-1600.UNIFOSA

You'll be able to find the brand part number with HWINFO portable version (no installation). As you only have one memory module, you should see 800MHz (single channel). For a frequency of 1600MHz, you need two parts and its will work in dual channel.
