Monitor scanning issue on new Macbook Air - Acer G247hyu

Bought latest MBA, on El Capitan 10.11.2. Using external monitor: Acer G247HYU which runs at 2560 x 1440, same as Apple Cinema display. I'm using a mini-display to displayport cable.

On my last MBA (same OSX version) the image filled the screen fine. On the new MBA there is underscan (there is a ~8mm black border around the image).

In the display options there are no options for under/over-scanning. Does anyone have a solution for getting the image to fill the display?  It's actually not impossible to use, but my assumption is that the underscanning means the pixels are being aliased to fit this box, so not optimal for the screen.

Thanks.
