Iconia A700 tablet System Update gives Network Coverage error.

I have an Iconia A700 tablet that is slow and has a few freeze problems.  I also have to be within 15 ft of the router to get one bar.  The wifi on this thing is a nightmare. So I figure an update could help, but that has been no help.  Every time I try to do a system update I get the following message.

NETWORK COVERAGE

--------------------

Update service temporarily unavailable.  Please try again later.

Unable to resolve host

"Y2hlY2tpbi5hY2VyLmZ1dHVyZWRpYWw=.com": No address associated with hostname

                                                                 OK

Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on? I copied the message exactly.

Thank you

The old Acer FOTA server was shutted down months ago, so you will encounter that kind of message.

To check about updates, you have to look at the Acer support website.

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/4318;-;A700

click on OS tab and have a look if the downloadable version is newer than yours.....i highly doubt.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

The Wifi thing sounds like the antennas have become disconnected. They are tiny little wires that plug into the Wifi/Bluetooth module and a fairly easy fix if you are comfortable with taking the tablet apart.

I have the exact same error message when I try to update.  Applications update just fine.  I only run off a WiFi network.

Ok, the version on there is newer than what I have.  I downloaded it, went to the files to open it, but the format is unsupported.  It downloaded as a .zip

The file you download (long name), when extracted gives you a file called 'update.zip'. Copy update.zip to the root of a FAT32 SD card and plug it into the tablet. You can then reboot into upgrade mode (combination of power and volume buttons) where it'll offer you the upgrade.
