Aspire v5-122p-0857 power on fan on no video

When I power up the laptop, the blue light comes on, the keyboard lights up and the fan turns on but I just get a black screen. There are numerous topics on the web about this but nothing definitive. I did the battery reset with the paper clip. I also left it turned on until the battery died and then charged it again. Nothing works. One thread I found references flashing the bios with a usb drive but I don't know if that's the issue. Plus, the bios update is an exe file that would have to run from the usb drive. I don't know the boot sequence for these things and can't set it to begin with. Are there any real solutions to this problem?

Do you have the same issue with an external monitor or a LCD TV using the VGA or HDMI ports?

[Fn]+[F5]: Switches the display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) or both.

It only has 2 usb ports. There are no vga or hdmi ports.

Do you see something displays if you move the screen (close/open position)?

No, nothing on the screen at all. No flickering or flashing.

Hello,

Unfortunately I think you should disassembly your laptop and check if the LCD cable is correctly connected.

If this connection is correct, the LCD panel is certainly defective.

I know there is enough help in here atm. I just thought I would add Before you take it apart I would use a Flash light and see if you can shiine in on your Screen and see the screen then!!!!!

The Laptop has a LED back lighting and I thought that would be a good idea to check out.... If you can see the screen when you shine a light at it then you don't need a whole screen just the LED lighting... However it is a Rather large swap if your new to computers and haven't done one it can be overwhelming....

I pulled the back off of it and verified tight connections and no spills inside. I also unplugged the battery and held down the power key to discharge. Still nothing. Nothing is visible on the screen using a flashlight. After reading numerous posts about the black screen coming from a corrupted bios, I'm not sure I want to spend $100 on a replacement screen.
