Hello i have an aspire switch 10 sw5 -012 with only 64 gb. Can i add one ssd into the dock? Or only the models with integrated hdd can replace it?

There is a special cable needed to add a HD to the dock. Search here and you'll find a thread on it that gives the part number.

So i understand that all docks are the same including or not hdd?

Buying the cable can i install ssd disk? i saw some pictures of docks that doésn't have space to install a disk. This is the point.

Someone might chime in to prove me wrong, but I believe all keyboarrds (except maybe he new Switch 10E) have the same plastic mold, giving the needed space for the HD.

Apart of cable, do you know if i need a Caddy to fix the ssd disk to the dock? is a samsung evo with 7mm.

I actually had ordered the HDD and cable for mine, but when I opened up the keyboard, the circuit board did not have the connection for the cable.  Won't work on my Switch 10 SW5-012.

The inside of my keyboard looked exactly the same as the youtube video.  There is no connection available for the hdd cable as seen on the Switch 11, I didn't even look to see if there was any space.  I'll have to buy an external usb enclosure for the HDD I bought, it's just not going to work inside the keyboard.

Did you get it to work?

I tried that cable and a working HDD but the Switch did not recognise the addition of the HDD. Is there a BIOS update or driver update needed? Device Manager shows no problems.

@Xserkque you should start a new thread using the Ask a Question button. You don't have the same computer as others in the thread (not your fault others hijacked it) and the thread itself is more than 5 years old. Include the full model number and a description of what cable you need and we should be able to look up the part number for you.
