I've tried eRecovery without, as well as, with removable media. They have both failed after rebooting and at the point of trying to start services. I'm hoping not to loose the data on the hard drive, as my wife uses this computer for her nursing classes and there is a lot of data that would be lost if I set it back to factory settings (which I'm skeptical will work, since the eRecovery was a blazing failure).
As a side note, I'm at this point after windows startup taking almost an hour, system recovery points having been deleted (I know there were several there before all this happened), starting into safe mode with networking (hoping to move data files to my network drive), but networking won't start. The apps to fix issues with the system, as well as, anti-virus apps will also not start, so I'm thinking that a virus has struck and is protecting itself. I have managed to boot into safe mode & safe mode with networking and tried to move files to a flash drive, but when I try to open the flash drive to save files, windows explorer crashes.
