USB-A port on Keyboard is working fine.

But connecting USB memory to Tablet USB-micro connector (via USB Adapter  A/Female-microB/Male) is completely dead.
Any suggestions?

First see if a mouse is recongized. If not check device manager for problems. Either in the USB group or an unrecognized port. I assume you rebooted a few times.

I didn't quite get the sad face in the end. Was it a faulty USB controller on the tablet or just a bad cable? What about an USB port on the dock, does it work fine?
