I have a aspire 5552 model pew76 that I purchased in mid 2011 and I had a black screen 2 days ago.

Searching for the problem I read that the bios was the issue. I was disappointed that Acer did not notify anyone and made the recall to fix the aspire product.

Today I tried to reach Acer to complain. I can't get anyone except someone in India that only does support. I spend about 180 dollars to fix the issue and the person told me that if it happens again I can scrap the aspire.

I am very disappointed I will never buy an Acer again.

I have other laptop HP 17 inch since 6 year and no issue.

I doubt if it is a bios problem. The system can't write to the bios.Did you have a Windows update before this happened?

Maybe useless, but easy to do. Remove power and battery and hold down the power button for 60 seconds, let laptop sit that way for a couple hours and then plug in power and try, without the battery.
